The Dumpling Festival (端午节 “Duan Wu Jie” ), or Dragon Boat Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. Dumpling Festival 2019 falls on 7 June. For millenniums 端午节 “Duan Wu Jie” has been marked by eating “Zong Zi” (糯米) – bamboo leaf-wrapped steamed glutinous rice dumplings. In Singapore, we get a variety of delicious glutinous rice dumplings, which we also called “Bak Chang”, all year round.
